For most of you, we are coming up on or right in the middle of open enrollment period. This is the time when you have a short window to make changes to your health plans at work or on the government exchanges before you are stuck with them for another year. Use this week to discuss your family's health needs for the coming year and then identify the plan(s) that best meet your needs.
Don't just look at your own health plan options when determining how to structure your health insurance needs. Check the costs of adding yourself to a parent or spouses plan (or adding other family members onto your plan) and see if it is cheaper than them having their own plan. If you have children or are planning to add one, you should also check to see which spouse's plan offers the best medical coverage at the cheapest cost to you.
