It's time to clean up your estate plan. Dust off your will, trust, or complete estate plan and find the schedule of assets. Review each asset looking for assets you no longer own, and cross them off in your estate plan. Then add the assets you've acquired in the last year (or before) that are not included in your estate plan.
If you don't have an estate plan, your heirs will still need a document listing your assets if you were to die. Update or create a list of assets you own, including financial accounts, real estate, and high value personal property. Include the location of each asset and account numbers if appropriate. The article can give you a good idea what to include.
